About
The Peapack Mitten Company began in 2009, when Roberta Hummel started transforming old sweaters into cozy, one-of-a-kind mittens in her Grand Rapids, Michigan workshop. The mittens quickly became beloved for their unique designs and craftsmanship and were sold in shops around the US.
In 2025, Roberta’s daughter-in-law, Rachel, took over the business from her home in the Hudson Valley. After nine years in the tech world, Rachel left her corporate career to pursue a slower, more intentional way to work with her hands and carry forward a family business.
Every pair of mittens is still made from reclaimed wool sweaters, lovingly cut, sewn, and designed by hand to create something new.
